Title
1978-11-2 UMC Election dinner, Rossville, Kansas
Description
November 2, 1978
Possible Delay in Rossville Election Day Dinner
In the event the play-offs cannot be held in Rossville and the team has to travel to participate, the dinner which is scheduled for Tuesday, November 7 will be held on Wednesday, November 8.
The Rossville United Methodist Church annually holds an "Election Day Dinner" in conjunction with the general election. Much work goes into the planning and preparation of the meal, and the church uses this event as one of its major money-raising activities. The fact that the Rossville Bulldogs are scheduled to be in the state play-offs which occur on the 7th will take many fans out of town in the event the team travels to another location.
It will not be known until the weekend whether the field (which was extensively damaged early Monday morning by a person driving over it and tearing it up) can be used for the playoffs. When the decision is made, the community will know, but information won't reach the newspaper until after the dinner so the contingency plan has been announced by the Reverend Deborah Ackman.
If the team goes out of town, the dinner will be held on Wednesday, instead of Tuesday. If the team plays at Rossville on Tuesday, the dinner will be held on Tuesday as originally announced.
