Title

Frank Sheppard House
1305 10th Street
Baldwin City, Ks 66006

Subject

Frank Sheppard purchased a twenty acre tract in this location south of Jersey Street and west of Tenth Street in 1899. The assessed value was only $200.00. Sheppard and his wife Emma were listed as residing on Tenth Street at the corner of Monroe in 1902. This indicated that the existing buildings were constructed by that time. However, Sheppard sold to Samuel J. Molby in 1902. The property's assessed value increased to $275.00 in 1905 and to $350.00 in 1906 suggesting some improvement. Sheppard was again recorded as the owner in 1909; Walter Kennedy owned a reduced tract of 13.3 acres in this location in 1921.
