Construction of the existing house in 1882 was indicated by a change in ownership and increase in assessed value. William J. Mitchell sold to J.S. Simmons and the property value increased from only $10.00 to $250.00. Simmons remained the owner until after 1902.

Detached residence, T-plan with entrance in wing, rear shed addition, two stories, wood frame construction, coursed tooled stone foundation, gable roof. Front shed porch, 2/2 wooden double-hung windows, internal brick chimney, three gable wall dormers. Decorative head and side moldings on first floor windows. Alterations--asbestos shingles, enclosed porch entry, wrought iron porch posts.
