The Ledger, November 16, 1886 reported that, "Dr. Schnebly has completed his building". From 1886 to 1890 J.G. Schnebly owned all the lots on this block. This property's assessed value increased from $30.00 to $400.00 from 1893 to 1889. It was a grocery in 1893. The building was shown as one story from 1893 to 1899. A second story was constructed in 1900; the property assessment increased that year. Grocer Preston Flora bought the property from Schnebly in 1900. The building was illustrated in the 1908 Souvenir.
Description
Corner commercial block in row, rectangle with recessed central entrance, two stories, three first floor and two second floor front bays, brick and stone masonry construction, flat roof and parapet. Wood frame exterior stair S. Display windows and 1/1 double-hung second floor windows. Decorative elements include rough cut stone sills, segmental brick arches with stone end blocks, corbeled brick eave detailing. Storefront altered, modern brick bulkheads, windows, metal entrance door, wood frame and shingle awning.
