Description

Rossville Christian Church
Associate Youth Minister Resigns

Scott Hultgren
Scott Hultgren, Associate Minister of Youth, has resigned from his ten year ministry with the Rossville Christian Church. He will be moving his family at the end of the month to Rapid City, SD. The move will take them closer to his wife's family.

Hultgren was the first full time youth minister for the 130-year-old congregation. Scott ministered to the children and young people in the congregation and community. His main responsibility was to plan and execute youth activities for all age groups of children. He planned special events that brought the young people into contact with other Christian teens from throughout the Midwest. They have attended Silver Dollar City's Young Christians Weekend, Christ in Youth events in Colorado and Missouri, church camp at King-Solomon Christian Service Camp in Solomon, KS, the Kansas Christian Teens Convention, and several canoe and camping trips. Hultgren served on the board of di¬rectors of the King-Solomon camp and the KCTC for several years. He also took teens on a short term missions trip to build houses in Mexico. Many young people have become Christians during his ministry in Rossville.
In addition to ministering to youth, Scott has been a worship leader and preached in the absence of the senior minister. He has also conducted funerals, spoken at community events and conducted worship services for the residents of the Rossville Valley Manor and the St. Marys Manor.
Scott and his wife Holly have three children, two of whom have attended Rossville schools. Scott has also been active in community affairs. He is a member of the Shawnee County Fire District Number Three Fire Department. He served as a Firefighter and an Emergency Medical Technician. This spring he helped organize a Baccalaureate Service for the Rossville graduating seniors, where he was the featured speaker.
A fellowship supper will be held at 5:30, Sunday July 28, at the church for folks of the community and the congregation to say "good bye" to Scott, Holly, Haley, Megan, and Grant.
