Subject

George Meunier came to Kansas in 1858. He settled first in Lecompton and married Fenruary 22, 1859. Then he and his wife Margaret moved to Palmyra Township in 1861. Meunier was a stone mason and an early Prairie City businessman. He aquired a 250-acre farm and by 1883 he and his wife had six children. Presumably he built his own residence.

Description

Farm residence, T-plan, I-house type, two stories, stone (stuccoed), gable roof. Modern two-story front gable porch on concrete piers, second floor enclosed, open railing, rear shed-roofed porch screened and partially enclosed, 2/2 double-hung wooden windows, glazed wooden entrance door, two interior brick end chimneys, rear gable wall dormer. Alterations-- stuccoed exterior, exterior brick chimneys S, rear shed addition NW.
