In 1940 O. Joliffe, president of Peabody State Bank, donated &40,000 to Baker University in honor of his wife for the construction of a dormitory to house 40 men. The building was to be fireproof and "erected of native stone to be quarried by Baker students." George Rinner was the contractor. The dormitory was occupied in September.

Description

Dormitory, rectangle with central entrance, two-an-a-half stories, five front bays, reinforced concrete and rubble stone masonry, two side gable casement windows and 6/6 double-hung wooden windows, paneled wooden entrance door with arched transom and sidelights, shed roof dormer. Decorative corbeled arched entrance lintel, smooth-cut lintels. Alterations-asbestos shingling on dormer.
