The Xavier Jardon family was one of the early French-speaking Catholic families in the Prairie City vicinity. The family arrived in Kansas in 1858. Reportedly, this house was standing by August 1863 when Quantrill's raiding party stopped at the farm to water their horses.

Residence, I-house with rear ell wing, two stories, three front bays, smooth cut ashlar rubble stone masonry, front side gable and rear gable roof, modern shed front porch, 1/1 double-hung windows, modern shutters, modern entrance door, interior stone end chimney E. Modern frame rear shed addition and garage addition.
