The Kaw Dehydrating Plant started up this week for the alfalfa season and is throwing a smog over Rossville like California’s smog would be coming out of one stack.

THE WAY I SEE IT . . .

Tuesday morning a local resident said he had a good night’s sleep. He was up bright and early feeling great. The wind was still blowing from the east.
While this citizen slept well, anoth¬er coughed, snorted, his nose was run¬ning, and he had a burning in his throat and chest all through the night and the next morning he was feeling lousy.
There’s nothing so unusual about one man feeling lousy while another is feeling great but the matter goes farther than just these two. Practi¬cally the whole town’s feelings are determined by which way the wind happens to be blowing.
The cause? — the dust, odor and fumes from Rossville’s industry, the alfalfa dehydrater, located in the middle of town!
Let’s let by-gones be by-gones as to why the mill was ever permitted to be built there in the first place. It’s there so let’s see what can be done about it.
For over two years that we happen to know about, it has been talked about, cussed about and promises we made that something would be done about the dust and odor. What [rest missing]
