Title
1986-11-25 St. Stanislaus parish retreat, Rossville, Kansas
Description
I.C. and St. Stanislaus Will Have Retreat
Members of the Immaculate Conception and St. Stanislaus parishes will be encouraged to participate in the parish retreat November 30 through December 4. The theme for the retreat is "Turn to the Lord and be saved."
"A retreat is a 'time out' for reflection. An unreflected life has two results that dehumanize and deChristianize us: we become shallow people who move from one experience to another without learning or growing. Secondly, we lose control over our lives, swept along by the sheer pace that we live without thinking why we do what we do; why we make the choices we do. Hence, we reach rather than act," Fr. John Erickson, pastor of the two churches, said.
Fr. Erickson continued, "You and I are called to reflect on our lives; we are called to 'turn to the Lord and be saved.' This week will be an opportunity for us to reflect on our lives and make new choices that help us toward that happiness and peace we all desire."
Fr. Finian Meis
Leading trhe retreat will be the Rev. Finian Meis, O.F.M., and Sr. Catherine Jantsch, O.S.U. Fr. Finian is presently Archdiocesan Director of Family Life for the Archdiocese of Kansas City, Kansas. He has 15 years experience in marriage therapy, has worked as a campus minister and has been a pastor in the Archdiocese for six years.
Sr. Catherine Jantsch
Sr. Catherine is a member of the Ursuline Sisters of Paola, Kansas, and has a B.A. in theology and an M.A. in Christian spirituality. She was Coordinator of Religious Education at Queen of the Holy Rosary Parish prior to becoming a member of the Archdiocesan staff and is presently working at the Christian Formation Office of the Archdiocese.
Sr. Catherine and Fr. Finian will preach at all of the Masses on November 29 and 30, and will have a general session each evening from 7 to 8 p.m. After the general session each evening, there will be a special session from 8 to 9 p.m. for various groups within the parish. Each morning there will be a special Mass at 8 a.m., followed by an "Over Coffee" session for those who can attend.
Those making the retreat will find the investment of time and energy rewarding in greater contentment and peace in their lives. John said.
