Former Resident Will Preach November 12
The Rev. Thomas J. Smatla, Grand Junction, Colo., will preach at the Rossville Presbyterian Church for a special Homecoming Sunday service on November 12, at 11:00 a.m. All past and present members of the church have been invited to return for this occasion.
The Rev. Smatla grew up in the Rossville and Delia communities. He is a graduate of the University of Dubuque, La., and McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago. He has served churches in Missouri, Minnesota and Montana. Now retired, he continues to serve part-time as a parish associate with a congregation in Grand Junction. While visiting his brothers, Bill and Ed Smatla, he hopes to do some bird hunting. The title of his sermon for November 12, is "A Colony of Heaven," with text from Philippians 3:20.
The ministry of music for this service will be provided by the Faulk Family Singers. Members of the group are: Dale and Dean Faulk, Jewelie Ullery, Emilie Fangman and Marguerite Williams.
A potluck dinner will be held in the Fellowship Hall following the service. All are welcome.
