Title
2011-06 UMC Mark Norman Leaving, Rossville, Kansas
Description
Rossville United Methodist pastor leaving for Arkansas
Rossville United Methodist Church pastor Mark Norman will be leaving his congregation after four years. His last Sunday is June 19.
While he hates to leave Rossville, he and his wife Natasha and family look forward to living in the same town again. This was not possible while he was pastor in Rossville, and she was pastor of churches in Auburn and Scranton. Now both will be pastors at separate churches in Benton, Ark.
The Rossville congregation was "always so supportive of the church and supportive of the many things that happened in my family. The love expressed to Natasha, Kelly, and Mylas over the past four years has been unlike any church I have ever served," he said. "It is going to be hard for all of us to say farewell but we know that God will be with all of us as we start new journeys."
His children have visited their new schools and are getting excited, too.
"We will miss Rossville," Norman said. "There's no place like Rossville! There's no place like Rossville!"
Norman recalled Rossville graduate Brett Eakin's recent words to the Rossville class of 2011: "Rossville is not just a town," he said. "Rossville is a people of love and support ."
"I am a better pastor because I have served this church," Norman said. "You have shown me that in Christ we are one! That in the church love can be unconditional, beyond race and politics. Your work ethic is something I hope to model in my life and ministry. We have laughed together and cried together. We have had fun together and struggled together. I praise God for the privilege of being your pastor."
The new pastor will be the Rev. Lori Schwilling.
