THE REV. CHUCK KALLOUS came to the Rossville area in June and is looking forward to the growth in the United Methodist Church and the uniting of the community through many ecumenical projects.
Kallaus Looking forward to Growth
by Merle Bird
The Rev. Chuck Kallaus isn't old-fashioned, even though his sermons sometimes have echoes of Methodist ministers of the past.
Kallaus, who became minister of Rossville United Methodist Church in June, has some old fashioned beliefs, too — belief in the importance of family, in the importance of community and in the importance of Christ.
He came late to the ministry, having spent 10 years in the U.S. Air Force and several more years in industry and in business. But his enthusiasm is amazing, as is that of his wife, Caryl.
"We expect Rossville United Methodist Church to grow," Kallaus said. "We expect attendance to grow through the members already on the books — 234, or something like that, and we've had 70 to 100 in attendance.
"We expect the attendance to grow through new people, too. We expect to attract not only people from Rossville but from Delia, Willard, and scattered all around here who have Methodist connections.
"And we expect to attract people who are unchurched.
