This property was unimproved in 1902 when Sarah E. Spence acquired the tract (LTS 87-97). In that year she was listed as the widow of Samuel Spence residing on West High Street near the railroad. The property value increased to $685.00 in 1903 indicating construction of the existing house. Spence remained the owner in 1906 and 1910.

Detached residence, square plan with central entrance, two stories, three front bays, wood frame and weatherboard, brick foundation, truncated pyramidal roof. Two story shed-roofed porch with square posts and open railing, 1/1 double-hung windows, ornamental sash first floor, glazed wooden entrance door, gable vent dormer, two interior brick chimneys (altered). Rear foundation replaced with concrete block, metal sheathing.
