Subject
Reporters agree that in 1865 Elijah Sells acquired the property where this house originally stood at 714 High Street in Baldwin City. The 1977 historic building survey reported that G. Lucy Sullivan was elected the town's first woman mayor in 1889 (see B51). In the early twentieth century, the house was used as a residence for the president of Baker University. It was move to the country east of Baldwin in 1980.
