DEDICATION SERVICE
Three lovely silk flags including the service flag bearing 1 gold star and 38 other stars, the Christian and U. S. flags were dedicated in the service held at the Christian church Sunday evening. Cut flowers and a potted plant were used in the decoration.
Gail B. Dunning, pastor of the church was in charge of the service, assisted by Mrs. Vida Stumbaugh, Miss Bernice Herron and Mrs. Thelma Sigler. Chaplain Schmidtke of the Army Air Base in Topeka, was present to deliver the dedication sermon.
Special music included two vocal solo, "Rosary" and "Ave Maria," sung by Miss Mary Campbell, accompanied by Mrs. Schmidtke, and three piano numbers by Peggy Navarre.
In the candle lighting service which closed the program, as Mrs. Sigler called the honor roll, mothers present were assisted in lighting a candle by Mrs. Stumbaugh, and then placed the candle in a large wooden: "V" placed in front of the service flag. Mrs. H. K. Prater was the star mother present, having six sons in the service.
