N. C. Cradit built an earlier frame house west of this building nearer the town site of Prairie City. Later, he built this distinctive New England house type sometime after 1859

Description

Detached residence, rectangle with side entrance and integral shed block, two and one story, three front and side bays , ashlar rubble stone masonry, saltbox roof. 1/1 double-hung windows, wooden entrance door, central interior brick chimney. Ornamental features: Basement keystone lintels, smooth-cut stone sills and lintels, rough corner quoins. Modern greenhouse and rear kitchen additions.
