Subject
School District #58 operated from 1866 until 1946. This wood frame building constructed in 1900replaced an earlier log structure. The building was moved to this location in 1909. Five years after the school had its last session, the district consolidated with Baldwin District #92. The building is now used infrequently at the Clearfield Grange meeting hall.
Description
School, rectangle with two side entrances, one story, four front and five side bays, wood frame and weatherboard construction, rubble stone foundation, gable roof with corrugated metal roofing. Two curved wooden shed stoops on ornamental brackets, 1/1 double-hung front windows with ornamental borders in the upper sash, 2/2 side windows, two paneled wooden entrance doors. Ornamental eave shingling, flush triangular panel in front peak, interior brick end chimney.
