The Clearfield community retained German customs and the use of the language into the early twentieth century. The Protestant Church, chartered in 1860, was the center of community life. This building was constructed in 1880 and is still in use.

Description

Church, rectangle with square corner entrance tower NE, one-and-a-half story, three front and side bays, wood frame and weatherboard, stone foundation (parged), gable roof. Square entrance tower with flat roof and parapet, recessed entrance with paneled double doors, ornamental glass windows E, double-hung windows with triangular heads. Modern sheathing and attached modern parsonage.
