Volunteers gathered July 28-29, 1956, to pour a concrete slab for the shelter house in the Rossville, Kansas, city park. Pictured standing left to right are Walter Schlup, Ivan Britt, Ed Rafferty, Albert Coleman, Milton Bahner, L.B. Crow, John Lillard, George Stadler, Francis Pardee, Leo Gannon, Walter Swenson, perhaps Dick Contillion, John Hurley, Luther McClain, Jim Adams, Marlin Harth, Bill Farley, Billy Hesse, Fred McCollough, unidentified, Howard Stiles, Charles Berkey, Clyde Rogers, Dave Stickerod, Joe Campbell, Thorton McClain, Dale Ruff, and Joe Gresser. Kneeling on the front row are Laverne Spears, Don Rogers, J.W. Adams, Artie Campbell, Harry Adams, and Carl Farley. Harold Irwin cannot be seen but he is standing behind Milt Bahner. The roof was finished in 1961.
