Description

One of the earliest farmers in Rossville, Kansas, was Henry Ford who acquired 80 acres southwest of Rossville in 1864. He was born May 3, 1836, in Richland County, Ohio. He came to Kansas in 1863 and was a stage coach driver for the Overland Stage Company between Topeka and Manhattan. He met Mary Nadeau at "Buttermilk Station" when she worked for her brother, Big Alex Nadeau. Henry and Mary married July 18, 1864. Henry died in Rossville on April 7, 1915.
