Stockton City Building
Description
The Stockton City Building in a photo taken in 1941. Built in 1940 with WPA (Workers' Progress Administration) funds, this native stone building at 115 South Walnut originally housed the fire department and city offices. The fire department and ambulance service were moved to new quarters just south of this building in the early 1980s. The City Building has undergone extensive remodeling in recent years and still contains the Stockton city offices and the police department, as well as a large auditorium used for meetings, plays, auctions, and as the voting place for the City of Stockton.
