The Strum family arrived in Eudora, Kansas about 1869. The gable-roofed section was the original house: it was built about 1870. The large front section was built about 1900. William Nadelhoffer of Lawrence erected the barn in 1882 and the c. 1900 addition. George Strum built the granary himself in 1924.
Description
Courtyard farmstead plan. House: square block with central entrance, two stories, truncated hipped roof, rear ell rectangle with gable roof, wood frame and weatherboard, smooth-cut sandstone foundation. Ornamental gable entry and hipped ell porch on turned posts, gable roof dormer, two interior brick chimneys.
