Subject
Prairie City and Mt Calvary cemeteries are adjacent with a gateway between the two tracts. Prairie City was established in 1855 and the cemetery was designated as the settlement grew. Early records of Prairie City cemetery were destroyed by fire in the 1930's. The Mt. Calvary tract was purchased by Father Joseph Perrier who attended the Catholic Mission (P69). This cemetery was dedicated in 1868. Mt. Calvary also served the Ottawa Catholic community until 1884.
