This house may have been constructed as early as 1906 when Mary A. Leavitt was recorded as the owner of corner lots 126 and 128 on Newton Street. The assessor noted a house on lots 126-132 and the value of the tract increased from $45.00 to $300.00. The existing house was illustrated as the M.G. Swartz residence in the 1908 Souvenir. Leavitt sold the property to Swartz in 1910.

Description

Detached residence, square main block with gabe bays S and NW, two stories, two front bays, wood frame and weatherboard construction, rough-cut coursed stone foundation, high hipped roof. Hipped front porch with mock gable entrance dormer, ell plan, screened 1/1 double-hung windows, wooden entrance door, internal brick chimney, gable wall dormer ESE. Decorative elements include attic window hoods, porch columns. Porch ell enclosed, rear one-story gable and shed additions.
