This commercial block and the adjacent property (B30) are two of the oldest major commercial buildings in Baldwin City. It was standing by 1886; L. B. Kiefer was the owner. The building was a dry goods store(1893-99), grocery (1905), lunchroom (1912) and store (1927).W. F. Osborn acquired the building in 1908.
Description
Commercial block in row, rectangle with recessed central entrance and side stair entrance, two stories, four bays first floor and three second floor, brick and stone masonry, brick front, rear wall is rubble stone with cut quoins, flat roof and parapet. 4-light transom window W, 2/1 double-hung windows second floor. Three ornamental cast iron posts in storefront, smooth cut sills, window hoods, projecting metal eave cornice with brackets. One story tile rear addition, modern display windows and entrance door.
