Dr Schnebly and his son James had two adjacent buildings constructed in 1888. James Schnebly an experienced pharmacist, operated a drugstore in this block, but apparently he did not move into this building until c. 1910. The property was a dry goods store (1893), bookstore (1899), dry goods & bookstore (1905). In 1912 and 1927, it was shown as a drugstore. From 1886 to 1890 J.G. Schnebly owned all the lots on this block. This property's assessed value increased from $30.00 to $400.00 from 1893 to 1889. It was a grocery in 1893. The building was shown as one story from 1893 to 1899. A second story was constructed in 1900; the property assessment increased that year. Grocer Preston Flora bought the property from Schnebly in 1900. The building was illustrated in the 1908 Souvenir.
