The "Old Academy" - The Congregational Academy was located east of Walnut on North 7th Street. It was a 2 1/2- story building constructed of native stone and brick. Completed in 1889, it was intended as a college preparatory school. The economic depression of the early 1890s caused a decline in enrollment and the last class was graduated in 1896. The building was used by the local school district as a high school until 1923. It was sold for the material in it and torn down in 1924.

Description
An account of the resource
The "Old Castle" - The Good Castle was built in 1880 of native limestone on a hilltop northwest of town. Enos Good built the home to resemble an old country mansion for his bride, Eliza Boggs Good. Both Mr. and Mrs. Good were natives of England and the castle was their home as long as they lived. Legend had it that Mrs. Good, whose high fashion gowns were made of luxurious silks, satins and lace, had been a lady-in-waiting to Queen Victoria of England. Mrs. Good died in 1905. After Mr. Good's death, the property was purchased by the Robbins family. The house eventually fell to ruins. As long as a stone remained, it was referred to by the people of Stockton as the "Old Castle."
