An account of the resource
Photographer Urbin I. Rudell, 1878 – 1966, was born in Leavenworth County. He became interested in photography at the age of 15. Mr. Rudell married Alice Mae Berry in 1903. The couple moved to Bonner Springs, KS in 1907. Around this time city leaders hired Mr. Rudell to take pictures of the Bonner Springs businesses, homes and points of interest in the hopes of promoting Bonner Springs as a health resort. Urbin I. Rudell continued to take photographs when requested or whenever a major event occurred in Bonner Springs, KS. His daughter Ella Mae Rudell Mitchell donated his glass plates to the Kansas State Historical Society with a request that the Bonner Springs City Library would receive copies along with her own collection of photographs and scrapbooks

A 5" x 7" black and white photograph copied from a glass negative of the businesses along Front St. between Elm and Oak St. Information on the front of the photograph states: About 1900's --along Front St., between Elm and Oak Streets, businesses, with McDanield's store on the right. The two men sitting in front of store and the woman in the doorway are unidentified.
