Description
The Carnegie Library - In 1909, the Library Association of Stockton contacted Andrew Carnegie, who agreed to donate $5,000.00 for a library building. The Association donated it's property for the library site, and the voters of Stockton agreed to an annual city library tax to fund operations. The building was completed at a cost of $5,700.00 and was dedicated in January, 1911. This building is still part of the public library, but used mostly for community programs and special displays.
