The existing residence was cronstructed in 1904 to replace a house destroyed by fire. The first horse barn was constructed in the 1880s. A milking barn and feeding barn were built in the early twentieth century. Since the new "horse barn" was completed in 1926it was not needed for horses and has been used as a hay barn. Father Ivo Schact of Lawrence built a small church on the crest of Liberty Hill in 1859. Later Father Swembergh, who was sent to Prairie City in 1869, built a stone parochial residence adjoining the church. For a short time, a small Catholic school was held in the residence.
