It was standing by 1886. It was a jewelry store (1912) and a printing shop (1927). The IOOF lodge owned the property from 1886 until c. 1910. The facade is illustrated in the 1908 Souvenir. The building housed a bank from 1893-1905 with a hall on the second floor. Ives purchased a lumber company in Media (W. Baldwin) June 1883. Then he established a lumberyard at 8th and High in Baldwin City. His son-in-law, F. M. Hartley, bought an interest int he business in 1907. Ives died October 29, 1913 but Hartley carried out plans for construction of a nes building. The existing Ives-Hartley detached building was opened June 27, 1914.
