He received a patent on the SW 16-14-21 in 1866. The Meeders were prominent members of the Clearfield community. The house on this property was buildt about 1880. The existing masonry building dates to about 1918 when the owner was Thomas A. Hitchcock. By 1927 the building was a movie theater with a small store in the NE corner. It was known as the Gem Theater when John Davidson sold the lease to J. Ward Spillman in May, 1933.
